Our Champion Series is dedicated to building a community where people tell individual stories---from seemingly different cultures, languages, religions, ethnicities, socioeconomic conditions and life experiences--only to discover and empathize with the universal humanity in each of us. We are looking for community organizations that want to partner with us to provide the power of story in their area.

The Road HomeWith an army of volunteer photographers, interviewers, and quilters we partnered with the Road Home homeless shelter in Salt Lake City, UT, to create a custom storybook and quilt for each child living there. Although we did not have a book specifically designed for this need prior to working with the Road Home, we were excited to create a custom book that would meet their needs. For many families these were the only family pictures they've had taken. Click here to see our volunteers in action.

JourneysThe My Story Matters volunteer team took the storybook process on the road to Rigby, Idaho during the summer of 2014. We partnered with the Journeys Developmental Disability Agency to create custom happiness in the lives of close to one hundred of their clients. Through photographs and interviews, we captured the day to day experiences of these inspiring individuals. They were thrilled with the final storybooks, and loved seeing themselves in their very own book.

Refugee StoriesOur team gathered to help bless the lives of several Refugee children who have come to the US seeking refuge from the violence, the fear, and the unknown. Our hearts were touched as we listened to the lessons they had learned already in their short lives.

Meet the Ellinger FamilyI had to have tongue reduction surgery. that means they had to cut off part of my tongue. It really hurt. I think being strong means doing something good to help others. I learn to be strong when I do the right things. Going through surgeries has been how I have learned to overcome obstacles. I want to be a cardiologist when I grow but so I can help people like me that have heart defects.
